I guess we have to explain this thing about our stupid name once and for all. If you know the Golliwog history, you know that original Golliwog was a child book character, a hero and not racist at all. This books was written by Florence Kate Upton and Bertha Upton I think, so check it out.

So, Golly began life in a story book, and only later, he appear in the form of a toy for children to play with. And that was the right time for racist organizations to exploit the doll and turn it to a "racist" doll. Stupid as fuck! Later Golliwog became commercial product and collectible item. So nowadays, many manufacturers and collectors prefer to refer to him by the shortened version of his name, Golly or Golli, to avoid the possibility of causing offense, as unfortunately the word 'wog' has often been used as a racist term in Europe, even if it was not supposed to be. Racism is the dumbest thing ever!

Well we decided to use this name for our band because it shows the irony and stupidity of human race, through different periods of time: from a child book character - hero, to the tool of racist organizations - exploited racist doll, and at the end to commercial product and collectible item.

It is qustionable name and it should be, so the people would ask us about it, and we could explain the meaning, the purpose and in our case - the anti-racist idea of the name Golliwog (putting it back to the right side). This is the main message of our band, and if you would read our lyrics, you would understand that we're totally anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-sexist, anti-globalist, anti-everything-corporate and animal friendly orientated punkrock band.
